The Space Shuttle Enterprise opens to visitors at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum!

Last Thursday (July 19th) after months of waiting visitors got the chance to get close to the The Space Shuttle Enterprise at New York’s Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. If you are in the New York area check it out!

The last time Intrepid Museum had major addition this exciting was the British Airways Concorde in 2004.

The Enterprise was originally going to be named Constitution, however fans of Star Trek campaigned to then President Ford that the name be changed to Enterprise.

The Enterprise had been moved from its previous home at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles International Airport. The Smithsonian will now receive The Space Shuttle Discovery in its place.  Discovery had logged the most numbers of hours in space flight, while the Enterprise has never gone into space.
